Berlin club culture never rests. It’s constantly evolving and keeps seeking new paths despite obstacles and against resistance. It outgrows itself and is at the same time faced with the challenge of maintaining its identity and ideals.
Even in the face of an uncertain future, its large and small niches should and will endure, offer spaces for community and remain resilient. Because after all, Berlin's club culture will continue to offer a place for creative development and inspiration as well as an escape from everyday life.
Never conforming and ever evolving.
In 2023, TAG DER CLUBKULTUR will again recognise the efforts and dedication of Berlin's club culture. A total of 40 clubs and collectives will receive a grant of 10,000 euros each. From 3 to 8 October, the awarded clubs and collectives will showcase their unique perspective on Berlin's club culture in a city-wide festival.
TAG DER CLUBKULTUR was launched in 2020 by the Clubcommission, the Berlin Senate Department for Culture and Europe as well as Musicboard Berlin. Today it is funded by the Berlin Senate Department for Culture and Social Cohesion as well as Musicboard Berlin. Originally conceived as a sign of life for Berlin's clubs in times when their existence was threatened, TAG DER CLUBKULTUR has since become an established cultural award and festival that honours the cultural and artistic commitment of Berlin's clubs and collectives each year.
