Calentura Berlin is a collective founded in the spring of 2020 with the aim of organizing music and dance events in public spaces. Our collective is defined by our migrant backgrounds, primarily from Latin American countries. We see our role as cultural creators in anchoring our diverse cultural roots in the soil of Berlin, promoting dialogue and exchange with the local music scene, and creating new perspectives and experiences for the Berlin cultural scene. Music, dance, and community are tools of decolonization and resilience. They motivate us, form the core of our events, and shape our interactions as a collective and community. One of our musical focuses is on what we refer to as "Music from the Ghetto." We harness the creative power that emerges in marginalized contexts, which is a central driving force for cultural transformation.
