Bouncer beyond gender?
One of the biggest myths of the nightlife scene is probably the bouncer. Despite the fact that club culture and our understanding of security have diversified significantly in recent years, security personnel and bouncers are still often associated with masculinity.
What do guests expect from a bouncer? What male attributes are assumed to be inherent to the role? Why have some of us chosen to become bouncers despite these stereotypes? What stereotypes and challenges do we face in our everyday lives, especially as FLINTA* (Female, Lesbian, Intersex, Non-binary, Trans*, and Agender) individuals or outside of the Berlin bubble, such as in Saxony? Why do we (not) work in mixed-gender teams? What are the opportunities for progressive door policies?
We aim to discuss all these questions with bouncers on October 4th at 6:30 PM in an online discussion session.

Access is an organization, a network driven by a desire. A desire for security and selection tasks to be more than just a yes or no decision. A desire for them to be rooted in principles and values. Through our organization, we aim to bring together a network of bouncers who share a feminist mindset, a discrimination-sensitive approach to their work, and a commitment to communicative problem-solving strategies. In the midst of the night's excess, when conflicts or incidents arise, we prioritize the needs of those affected. We encourage FLINTAs (Female, Lesbian, Intersex, Non-binary, Trans*, and Agender individuals) and Queer individuals to acquire the skills to protect their spaces and support them in doing so. We seek understanding, awareness, and dialogue within the security industry to broaden the perspective to include many, not just a few. Solidarity is our guiding principle. We aim to break stereotypes and create a sense of security in which people feel safe. Access leads the way.
